Turbidity is a measure of how cloudy, or dirty, water is and is measured in Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU's).  The higher this number, the less effective the treatment plant will be without making changes.  HWU monitors the turbidity of your water on a constant, streaming, basis to ensure that the best possible treatment is being maintained around the clock.
Water Hardness is measured as calcium carbonate.  The degree of its softness or hardness can be seen in this scale: 0-75 = Soft, 75-150 = Moderately Hard, 150 - 300 = Hard, and >300 = Very Hard.
